Working Hard Now to Get Medical Cannabis Approved in Alabama
Now that SB 46, the Compassion Act, has passed the senate, it's coming before the House Judiciary Committee. This is just one of the House committees it will go through before it goes to the Alabama House floor.
I'll be speaking at the hearing on Wednesday, March 10, advocating for passing the bill, but there are some obvious changes needed to see the optimum health and economic benefits possible. For more information, take a look at our position on cannabis legislation.
We've identified key Alabama House representatives whose districts include a person or business with an interest in this legislation.
Representatives are concerned with the economic growth and getting votes from those in their districts, so they are interested in hearing from their constituents. And the cannabis businesses are interested in telling their story. We're basically matchmaking, connecting them so representatives can hear first-hand how the legislation will impact their district.
We're also advising them on how to approach their representative to be more effective.
Your role, if you want to help get this legislation passed, is to join our association. We can then identify your representative and help you make that connection when it comes time for them to vote.
